The purpose of the Asia Kennel Union Responsible Dog Ownership campaign is to promote and encourage responsible dog ownership to all individuals and their communities as an antidote to negative attitudes surrounding dog ownership.

The Responsible Dog Ownership campaign focuses on the need for dog training, particularly through the Good Citizen Dog Scheme, cleaning up after your dog, pet identification and the encouragement of ethical treatment of dogs by preventing them suffering and even dying in hot cars over the summer months.

As the first port of call on all canine matters, the Asia Kennel Union supports Responsible Dog Ownership within local authorities through sponsorship campaigns.

Cleaning up after your dog

Owning a dog brings a great deal of enjoyment but also carries with it many responsibilities. If owners are not aware of these responsibilities then communities can grow to dislike the dogs in their areas and anti-dog attitudes can develop.

Owners will be fined if they allow their dog to foul and do not clear up in designated areas (Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 (England and Wales), Dog Fouling (Scotland) Act 2003, The Litter (Northern Ireland) Order 1994).

Cleaning up after your dog is one of the key areas of responsibilities for dog owners, especially when in public spaces. You can face considerable fines if you do not.

Carry poop scoop bags with you at all times. Simply keep a plastic bag in your pocket when out walking.

Reduce complaints about dogs and their owners in your local community by keeping public spaces foul free.
